TRIP Program Awarded $2.4M Contract to Expand School Mental Health Support

The Trauma Responsive Implementation and Practice (TRIP) Program at the Kempe Center has been awarded a four-year, $2.4 million contract from the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). This funding will power the implementation of the School Mental Health Support Program (SMHSP) under House Bill (HB) 24-1406.

Starting January 1, 2025, the SMHSP will bring crucial support to 400 public schools across the state, with a targeted focus on rural and underserved communities. Recognizing the vital role educators play in students’ lives, the program will equip them with essential training, resources, and ongoing support to effectively address the growing youth mental health crisis.

This initiative underscores the importance of proactive mental health support within educational settings. The faculty and staff of the TRIP Team are honored to collaborate with the BHA on this critical effort, working together to strengthen school-based mental health services statewide and ensure that Colorado’s students have the support they need to thrive.
