Victory for Colorado’s Children: HB25-1188 Advances!

A major step forward for child protection in Colorado! On February 25th, the Colorado House Health and Human Services Committee passed HB25-1188, “Mandatory Reporter Task Force Recommendations,” with a strong 9-4 vote. This victory marks the culmination of years of dedicated work, particularly by Ida and Kathi, who served on the Colorado Mandatory Reporter Task Force for the past two years.

HB25-1188 is crucial because it implements several key recommendations from the task force, aiming to strengthen and improve the mandatory reporting system. Ida testified before the committee on behalf of the Kempe Foundation, passionately advocating for the bill’s passage and highlighting its importance in safeguarding children.

The Kempe Foundation is thrilled to see this vital legislation move forward. This bill represents a significant commitment to protecting Colorado’s children, and we are grateful for the committee’s support and the tireless efforts of everyone involved. This is a moment to celebrate, but also a reminder of the ongoing work needed to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
