A community united: The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect

Dr. Kempe knew that practitioners and professionals would need the help of the entire community to end child abuse. In 1976, the Kempe Foundation was established and community leaders, philanthropists and business people were called upon to spearhead fundraising, awareness and advocacy efforts in order to recognize and do something about child abuse and neglect. Today, the Kempe  Foundation motivates and engages the community to get involved by:

  • Helping raise critically needed funds for child abuse and neglect prevention and treatment efforts.
  • Providing a voice for children through advocacy and grassroots activities.
  • Educating and empowering the community with tips and tools to guide parents and protect children.
